Artificial Green Wall for Offices

Short answer: an artificial green wall gives an office a finished, brandable green surface with no irrigation, no grow lights and no plant replacement. It is a design and zoning product — not a soundproofing product. If a project needs a measured acoustic rating, specify a tested acoustic system instead.

This page covers where office green walls work best, which panel types suit which space, what to specify for fire compliance, and how supply works for fit-out contractors and multi-site rollouts.

Office green walls: the short answer

All Weather Greens artificial green wall panels for offices need no water, no irrigation and no grow lights. They are supplied in 100 × 100 cm and 50 × 50 cm panels, with UV stabilisation (5 years indoors / 3 years outdoors) and an EN 13501-1 B-s2,d0 flame-retardant option for fit-out compliance. Typical uses are reception feature walls, meeting-room backdrops and open-plan zoning. Production takes 10–15 working days after order and specification approval; the MOQ is 50 m² per design, and samples are free.

The rest of this page explains placement, panel types, fire compliance and what changes the price.

What an Office Green Wall Solves — and What It Doesn’t

RequirementDoes an artificial green wall solve it?Notes
Blank or unfinished wall in receptionYesFastest visual upgrade with no structural work
Brand backdrop for photos and video callsYesDense, uniform foliage reads cleanly on camera
Visual zoning in open-plan floorsYes — visual onlyAdds separation of sightlines, not physical separation
Biophilic look without maintenanceYesNo water, no light, no pests, no replacement plants
Measured acoustic absorptionNoWe do not publish an NRC rating because we have not tested one
Structural or fire compartmentationNoPanels are a surface finish; fire performance is a separate specification

Best Placements in an Office

  • Reception and lift lobby — the wall visitors photograph; specify a dense, uniform panel so it reads as one surface rather than a patchwork.
  • Meeting rooms — a calm backdrop behind the presenter; avoid high-contrast mixes that distract on camera.
  • Open-plan zoning — full-height runs between desk clusters create sightline breaks without building partitions.
  • Video-call and podcast backdrops — flat-mounted panels with no gaps at eye level.
  • Stair and corridor walls — high-traffic areas need panels that can be dusted and re-fixed individually.

Two layouts we are asked for most

Left: a full-height reception run behind the desk, panels cut around the adjacent timber joinery. Right: a contained meeting-room block above the table, framed and washed by the ceiling light. Both use the same 100 × 100 cm panels — what changes is foliage density, edge trim and how the run stops at the ceiling. Both images are design visualisations, not photographs of an installed site.

Three Panel Types for Offices

TypeBest forVisual result
Uniform foliageReception, boardrooms, corporate fit-outsOrderly, repetitive rhythm — reads as one surface
High-coverage / denseOpen-plan zoning, backdrop walls behind desksMore solid green face, better sightline blocking
Mixed / 3D foliageFeature walls, creative studios, client-facing spacesLayered depth and texture for a statement wall

All three are supplied as modular panels — 100 × 100 cm and 50 × 50 cm. The 50 × 50 cm size is held in stock and can be ordered from a single piece, which makes it the practical choice for samples, patch repairs and small reception walls.

Fire Compliance for Office Fit-Outs

Office fit-outs usually inherit the building’s fire strategy, so the wall finish has to be specified, not assumed. Our flame-retardant range is tested to EN 13501-1 B-s2,d0 and the test documentation is available for those two FR products. Standard UV panels are not FR-rated — if the wall is on an escape route or inside a protected lobby, specify the FR range.

Installation Without Closing the Office

Panels are fixed to the wall with a concealed batten or direct-fix system, cut on site to suit sockets, columns and ceiling heights. Most single-floor installations are completed outside working hours, so desks stay usable the next morning. For multi-floor or multi-site rollouts we ship in phased batches against your programme.

What Drives the Cost

Four variables move the number, in this order: total area, foliage density (uniform vs 3D), fire rating (standard vs FR), and access (ground-floor wall vs atrium or stair). We quote per project against a drawing or a site photo with dimensions — we do not publish list prices because they would be wrong for most projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do office green walls need sunlight or watering?

No. The panels need neither light nor irrigation, which is why they are used in windowless corridors, basements and meeting rooms.

Can an artificial green wall reduce office noise?

It adds mass and breaks up flat surfaces, but we do not publish an acoustic rating because we have not tested one. If a project has a specified NRC requirement, treat this as a design finish and specify a tested acoustic system for the performance target.

Where do office green walls look best?

Reception and lift lobbies, meeting-room backdrops, and full-height runs used for open-plan zoning. These are the placements where a single flat surface reads as intentional design.

Can it be installed on glass partitions or drywall?

Drywall and masonry take a direct-fix batten. Glass partitions need a frame that transfers load to the mullions — send a photo of the partition and we will specify the fixing.

What is the minimum order for an office fit-out?

50 m² per design for production orders. If you need to sample first, 50 × 50 cm panels are in stock from a single piece.

Do you supply the installer?

We supply panels, fixings and a fixing guide; installation is by your contractor. For repeat clients we can introduce installers we have worked with in the region.
